Chapter 145 Plan 2
Chapter 145 Plan 2
After Zhao Meng and his group drove away, they did not go directly back to the embassy, but instead drove towards the suburbs.
Ever since they suspected that the bodies the mercenaries burned in that pit were the very bodies they had painstakingly buried to cause the plague, Xu Ao had been wondering where they had hidden those bodies.
Even if they acted secretly, digging the pit and burning the body without being discovered by the embassy, there were only two ways to transport the body to the open space outside the back wall of the embassy: either go around the embassy entrance, or walk straight along the path behind the back wall to that deserted suburb.
That day, the young man also said that the person had stood at the entrance of the embassy for a long time, perhaps trying to distract them.
Now, with limited time, they had no choice but to take a gamble. Thinking about Xu Ao's conjectures about him, Zhao Meng stepped on the gas, eager to go and verify them as soon as possible.
Jiang Ying and Li Shuo kept looking back at the back of the car, afraid that the people would realize what was happening and chase after them. Fortunately, they couldn't see anything behind them except for the dust.
A moment later, the car screeched to a halt. Zhao Meng opened the car door and said, "We're here." They got out and looked at the desolate wasteland before them. Li Shuo frowned and scratched the back of his head. "Damn, this doesn't look like a place where bodies are buried!"
Jiang Ying frowned, shading her eyes with her hand as she looked around. Zhao Meng stood with his hands on his hips, licking his dry lips as he carefully observed his surroundings. "They're different from us. People like them don't respect corpses. They'll just dig a hole, fill it with dirt, and call it a day. So there won't be any obvious signs on the surface..."
"Look there!" Jiang Ying exclaimed excitedly before Zhao Meng could finish speaking. Then the others followed her finger and looked over there. There was a patch of land that was raised higher than the surrounding land, and that was the only place with sparse and low weeds.
“Let’s go take a look.” Zhao Meng started walking, and Li Shuo glanced back at Jiang Ying before following her.
Before they even got close, they could smell a nauseating odor, a rotten smell mixed with the scent of earth.
"Looks like this is the place." Zhao Meng looked up at Li Shuo and Jiang Ying and said, "Go wait in the back." Zhao Meng looked at Jiang Ying and said, and this time Jiang Ying did not back down. She obediently retreated to the back. Even though she was far away, the smell still wafted over with the wind. Jiang Ying quickly took out her gloves and mask and put them on.
"You two should take the safety precautions first," Jiang Ying said to Li Shuo and Zhao Meng.
Fortunately, they listened to Lao Huang's advice and brought a lot of masks and bags for protection. After taking safety precautions, Zhao Meng randomly picked up a rock behind him and started digging. He and Li Shuo took turns digging. As the soil was turned over, the nauseating smell became more pronounced. Even Jiang Ying, who was standing far away, couldn't stand it, let alone Li Shuo and Zhao Meng.
Neither of them flinched. Their faces were filled with sorrow and solemnity, while their eyes were filled with hatred! They had created this disaster, causing the deaths of countless innocent people. Even after their deaths, they intended to use their corpses to create another prison, with the intention of destroying the city. Anyone would be outraged!
"Stop!" Zhao Meng saw a patch of faded red. He reached out and grabbed it, pulling it outwards, but he couldn't pull it out easily. Seeing this, Li Shuo quickly helped him, pulling the corner of the garment outwards.
A moment later, a stench assaulted the nostrils, followed by a highly decomposed and swollen corpse. Jiang Ying only caught a glimpse of it before screaming in terror, as if she had been paralyzed with fear and forgot to react.
Li Shuo wasn't much better off than her. He was closer, and at first he didn't even see what it was until Jiang Ying exclaimed in surprise. He was so startled that he jumped aside and then dry heaved.
Zhao Meng was more composed than the others. The rotting corpse didn't frighten him. He even carefully examined it and concluded that it was probably from Country S. In the end, he couldn't stand the smell of decay and rushed to the side.
Li Shuo barely managed to hold back his vomiting. Seeing Jiang Ying standing there dumbfounded, he quickly stepped in front of her, bent down, looked into her eyes, and whispered, "You, you, how are you? I'm Li Shuo. I'm fine, nothing's wrong. Look at me, don't be afraid, I'm here!"
He then quickly bent down and looked into Jiang Ying's eyes. He remembered hearing old people talk about how someone's child had been so frightened that their soul had left their body. He had never known what it meant to be so frightened that their soul had left their body, but looking at Jiang Ying's current appearance, he understood. He became even more anxious, worried that she might really have been scared out of her wits!
"Jiang Ying! Jiang Ying!" Li Shuo hurriedly called her name, but she still didn't respond.
"Oh no!" Li Shuo thought to himself, quickly reaching out to hug her. But remembering what he had just done, he quickly lowered his hand, pressing closer to Jiang Ying. He then rested his head on her shoulder, loosely pulling her into his arms, whispering, "Jiang Ying, come here! Jiang Ying, come here! Jiang Ying, come here~"
After finishing his rambling, he looked at Jiang Ying again. She seemed to finally react; her eyes were no longer vacant, but they looked watery. "It's good that you're reacting. You'll be fine in a little while." Li Shuo quickly pulled her into a loose embrace again and gently patted her back with the back of his hand.
“I’m fine. I was scared at first, but, but, I just felt so sorry for them. They were just ordinary people. Some of them might be on their way home, some might be with their families, some might be planning for tomorrow, the future, and the future... But they will never wake up again.”
Jiang Ying became more and more upset as she spoke, and finally covered her face with her hands and burst into tears. Zhao Meng also leaned against the car, head down, without saying a word.
"Okay, I understand. We're going to destroy them, and we'll be able to avenge them soon. Alright, we have important business to attend to. Don't cry, sweetie!"
Li Shuo's voice came from above her head. He was right, now was not the time to cry. Jiang Ying wiped away her tears with the back of her hand, and when she looked up, she saw Li Shuo's dark eyes looking at her: "Yeah, I'm fine now, it's okay. You guys go ahead and do your work."
Seeing that she had calmed down, Li Shuo nodded, then greeted Zhao Meng. Zhao Meng took out a camera from the car and started taking pictures of the corpse.
While keeping an eye on what was behind them, Jiang Ying anxiously watched as Li Shuo and Zhao Meng unearthed two more corpses. Just as they were about to take pictures, Zhao Meng caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of his eye and quickly said to Li Shuo, "Wait a minute!" He then bent down and moved the two corpses, which had turned into giants, aside, revealing the body of an infant underneath.
"Damn it! They're a bunch of devils, devils from hell!" Li Shuo was stunned for a few seconds, and finally couldn't help but curse.
"Hurry up and get moving." Zhao Meng glanced at them deeply, a layer of anger in his eyes, but what they were doing now was perhaps what they had been hoping for, and they couldn't afford to make any mistakes.
Zhao Meng and Li Shuo divided the work: Zhao Meng was in charge of taking photos, and Li Shuo was in charge of reburying the bodies. After they finished everything, they looked at the restored land and said, "Hmm, you shouldn't be able to tell that it was dug up. But I'm glad they had no respect for these bodies. Such a simple and careless treatment gave them the opportunity."
Zhao Meng and his group got into their car and drove back the way they came without stopping, but they took a longer route and avoided passing in front of the government building. Around six o'clock in the afternoon, Xu Ao and Zhao Meng's cars drove into the embassy compound almost one after the other.
"How was it?" Xu Ao asked Zhao Meng as soon as he got out of the car.
“Yes, it’s all here.” Zhao Meng waved the camera in his hand at him.
"Okay, are you all alright?" Xu Ao asked with concern, noticing Jiang Ying's very pale face.
"It's nothing, I just got a little frightened." Li Shuo glanced at Jiang Ying beside him, a hint of worry in his eyes.
"Okay, then let's all go back to our rooms and rest. You guys should also take a shower. We'll meet in the conference room at 7:30." After agreeing on the terms, the group went back to their rooms. Xu Ao, however, took his camera and went to the server room with Lao Zhang.
"Are you alright?" Huang Meng asked softly as she and Jiang Ying walked upstairs side by side, Huang Meng carefully supporting Jiang Ying's arm.
"Um, it's nothing, it's just that I feel a little uncomfortable." Jiang Ying forced a smile at Huang Meng, but the smile only made her lips look even paler.
"How about I come to your room and keep you company?" Huang Meng was still worried about leaving her alone.
"Okay, let me take a shower first, then I'll come find you. I'm covered in dust." Huang Meng's eyes seemed normal, so she nodded and went back to her room.
