Chapter 408: Eira’s Boyfriend
Chapter 408: Eira’s Boyfriend
Eira’s POV
Jason and I went downstairs, hand in hand. Others were sitting quietly around the drawing room.
As we descended the stairs, all the gazes shifted to us, to our hands. They had heard it all and must have questions for Jason, about how he could keep this thing from others when they were meant to share everything with each other.
"Here is the bastard who spent a night with a minor," a voice came through. "Shall we honour him?"
Of course, who could it be other than Rafe? His sarcasm-filled mocking words would never stop.
Unbothered, unhesitant, Jason went ahead and looked at everyone, and then his gaze stopped at Rafe. "Yes, I did, as it was the first moon festival we were celebrating together. But I was well aware she is a minor and didn’t cross the line with her."
"First moon festival?" Roman commented sarcastically, "Showing off, huh?"
Rafe added, "What included crossing a line? Sex?" he asked. "Knowing you, I could tell you wouldn’t just leave her untouched."
"I don’t need to tell you what we did," Jason countered and looked at others calmly. "I am sorry I didn’t tell anyone, but I do hope you understand why."
Lucian stood up from his place. "You didn’t tell me, your own brother, that you had a girlfriend? We were always together and told everything to each other. How could you not tell me?"
"She was a minor, so I was thinking of telling everyone after her sixteenth birthday, which wasn’t far," Jason explained.
Lucian, not convinced, frowned and looked away. Maybe he didn’t want to argue with his brother at the moment, when important matters were to be handled.
"Still, if you had told us, I would have bullied her less," Roman said. "I would be a good guy to your girl."
"It helped her to get strong in case she had faced the worst ones," Jason replied coolly. "You and Rafe did a good job to toughen her up. And I could see she how defiant she could be."
I looked at Jason, not pleased at what he said. So, he was intentionally not saying anything to his friends. I thought it was because he didn’t want to let anyone see he had a soft spot for me and acted ignorant.
I glared at him, and he looked back at me. "Wasn’t it helpful? You can mock someone like unbeatable like Rafe, that’s indeed commendable. And you are getting better."
I rolled my eyes. "Tried to be my dad? I would have rather prefer a boyfriend who sided with me and gave him a peace of mind."
"Would have done it once I declared our relationship to others," he said.
I rolled my eyes at him and went to sit on the sofa next to Kael, who was the only one who never annoyed me in the past. Just keep aside that bad night as he was drugged.
Jason looked at Kael. "You understand."
Kael nodded lightly, as if he wasn’t bothered by not being told.
Damn, this was getting boring. I thought they would have some arguments and scolding, but they were a total disappointment.
Jason was always so calm, sorted out, and a reasonable person, that any argument against him would die in front of his calm attitude.
Rafe looked at me as if he understood what I was thinking. "I tried, but your boyfriend is just so boring. No fun."
"True. So boring," I huffed and folded my hands in front of my chest. "But you could still try harder. I am bored of being bored."
Roman chuckled and asked me. "So, did you expect us to argue and fight over it?"
"At least argue, not fight," I said. "This understanding between you guys is so annoying. So boring."
"Our girl loves drama," Rafe scoffed. "I tried, but this bastard Jason is like a god. We can never say anything to him."
"Kael," Lucian’s serious voice came through. We all looked at him.
"I am going to that bastard Asher," Lucian said. "I will bring Evan."
"Lucian, we had talked about it," Jason said firmly. "I am going."
"You don’t tell me what to do," Lucian glared at him. "Security is my responsibility, and I am going to take charge."
"Woh! Finally, some drama," Rafe commented as he looked at me. "Enjoy."
But then, seeing Lucian so serious, I wasn’t sure if this was what I looked forward to.
"Shut up!" Jason scolded Rafe, and turned to Lucian. "I had given reasons for why I should go there."
"Yeah, you are a doctor, but I understand vampires better than you," Lucian spat coldly. "I have been taking care of the worst one, who none of you can ever handle."
"We can’t seem to use your ways of handling that crazy vampire," Roman added, his lips curved into a teasing smile. "Your unique ways, only that works on him."
"Keep your mouth shut," Lucian glared at him.
Roman shrugged his shoulders. "I was just stating a fact."
"No more words," Lucian warned him.
Jason came to stand before Lucian, closer and calm. "Listen, alright? I am the right person to be there."
"And who decided that?" Lucian countered. "You? You had grown up long back to decide everything on your own, while I am an idiot who tells you everything."
"Calm down," Jason said softly, his hands approached him.
But Lucian stepped back. "I can’t let you go there. It’s dangerous."
"I can’t let you go there as well," Jason countered stubbornly.
Lucian let out an annoyed sigh and said, "You just got back with her and want to get into danger. Just stay with her."
Oh, so this was the reason. Even in anger, there was only care for each other.
"I promised her I will return," Jason said. "And it’s final, I am going." He then looked at me. "You agree, right?"
Lucian looked at me.
I said, "Jason has already told me he is going."
A while before Jason had told me about how much Jennifer and everything that belonged to her meant to him.
Though I didn’t yet ask exactly what she did for him other than adopting him, I was sure there is an untold story, that’s why Jason felt so indebted to her. I will ask him once he returns.
